Why This Matters
Skill without a market still leaves women dependent
Many women around Nandigama have strong tailoring skills but no organised buyers, leaving income sporadic. Without vocational training or job-linkage support, youth and women stay economically dependent and vulnerable to household shocks.
The Challenge
Skills Without a Buyer: Skilled women lack a structured link to institutional buyers, while unemployed youth lack both technical training and the job-linkage support that turns a course into a paycheck.
Our response
Training Tied to Income: Sujana Foundation builds production units and skilling centres that connect training directly to institutional buyers and employers, designed to run independently within three years.

Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What donors most often ask about our tailoring, skilling and livelihood work.
Does the Nandigama unit run on donations forever?
No. A single Year-1 grant covers setup and ramp-up; from Year 2, the unit is designed to fund its own wages and share a modest surplus with the SHG.
What happens to trained women after the course ends?
Graduates are supported into the tailoring production unit or self-help-group enterprise models, so training leads directly to ongoing income.
